Introducing the Eppur Skeed Wheel

ree

The latest development in Eppur’s innovative product line.

Designed to complement the existing Dreeft Wheel, the Skeed is tailored for more active wheelchair users who prefer maintaining direct control over the push rim – especially in situations where precise rear-wheel balance is essential. This new model is not only lighter but also features an integrated parking brake for added convenience and safety.

Both the Dreeft and Skeed wheels are excellent additions to the rapidly expanding rear power assist market, alongside products like the AceKare Yomper also distributed by us – as well as the SmartDrive, Alber Smoov and the new Empulse R90.

We’re expecting our first Skeed demonstration unit in the coming weeks, and interest from dealers is already growing. Get in touch today to register your interest and secure an early demo opportunity.

Re) invents braking

Skeed is a pair of wheels that incorporates a unique braking system at its center. A fixed operating lever, directly connected to the hub, allows you to slow down and immobilize your wheelchair, even without gripping!

Fingertip braking

The more you pull, the more you brake !

Pull back on the brake lever to slow down and steer your wheelchair with unprecedented precision.

Balance on two wheels

100% maneuverability on two wheels ! Thanks to its fixed handrail, Skeed guarantees perfect control on two wheels. Overcome obstacles and maneuver with agility !

Immobilize

your armchair

Push the brake lever forward to the detent to activate the parking brake. Powerful, it secures your wheelchair's position regardless of tire pressure and wear.

A pair of lightweight wheels

Inspired by the proven efficiency of the Dreeft system, Skeed is also revolutionizing wheelchair braking. Its secret ?

Unlike traditional systems where braking is done directly on the push rims, Skeed introduces a dedicated actuation lever that activates an internal caliper mechanism to brake at the wheel hub.

Weighing just 2.15 kg per wheel in its standard configuration (including aluminum push rim), Skeed makes transfers much easier and significantly reduces the overall weight of your wheelchair.

For effortless wheelchair control

Combine the power of your motor system with the precision of Skeed and make steering your wheelchair easier than ever !

With Skeed, a simple backward movement of the brake lever lets you finely control your speed. Even in turns, its progressive braking allows you to smoothly anticipate your trajectory—without the jerks typical of conventional wheels.

And brake without injury

With Skeed, braking becomes effortless: one hand on the push rim and a single finger on the lever are all you need to slow down or stop—with five times less effort !

Behind this ease of use is an ingenious cam system that applies progressive friction between the frame and the wheel.

5-fold reduction in braking effort

Brake without the strain !

Enjoy an optimized braking ratio that requires up to five times less effort to slow down your wheelchair. A light press on the lever is all it takes for effective braking, significantly reducing the strain on your arms and hands compared to direct braking on the push rims

Compatible with motorization

Skeed wheels are especially useful for safely controlling rear propulsion wheels (5th wheels), without putting strain on your shoulders during turns or on side slopes

Eliminates 100% of friction

Say goodbye to burns with Skeed !

Its innovative braking system transfers braking force to the wheel hub using mechanical calipers.

Your hands no longer create direct friction on the push rims while braking, eliminating the risk of heat buildup and burns, even during sudden or prolonged braking.

Effective even in the rain

Unlike traditional braking, which relies on direct friction between your hands and potentially wet, slippery push rims, Skeed uses callipers that apply mechanical pressure directly to the wheel hub.

This direct, moisture-protected contact ensures reliable and consistent braking power, even in the rain.

PARA OPTION

Its grippy coating ensures easy handling for precise fingertip braking.

The distinctive beak-shaped notch intuitively guides your fingers into the ideal position, while the flat lower part fits the last phalanx of your fingers, providing a stable and comfortable grip.

TETRA OPTION

An ergonomic handle designed for wrist activation.

Its grippy coating and external flare make it easy to catch with the back of your hand. It combines structural rigidity with a soft surface for optimal comfort during every use.

"As a mom, with my baby on my lap, I need to be able to control downhill slopes. Skeed has given me more confidence and peace of mind because the wheels let me manage my speed and go down safely without any risk !"

Emilie, User

Great product for active users, with a lever adapted to each person’s grip. It’s really nice to be able to adjust the lever position according to arm length and individual abilities.”
